A day in the life of Juan · Apr 6, 11:43 PM por juan
Como estan? Yo estoy muy bien con no problemas y zero stress. What an exciting day here! Thursday March 6, 2006
First I slept really good, nine hours. And when I woke up and looked out the kitchen window I could see the river sparkling in the sun between the trees. At first I thought it was fog and there was fog over the vineyard. Then I looked again and it was to clear to be fog must be the river. This got me really excited as we have had 10 days straight of rain and the last two were really a lot. But today the sun is shinning and there is not supposed to be rain again until tomorrow and that should last the weekend. OH WELL!!! B Then I ate breakfast and got dress to go see it that was really the case. It was cool and crisp so I put on a jacket and started out. First I had some mail to send so headed down the driveway for my daily walk a little less than two KM. Blue met me at the Y and we walked together with him chasing the sticks that I would throw for him to chase. On the way back I brought the neighbors garbage can back to their house. Now it is time to head off to the river and see if it is really high or was I just seeing things. I garbed the camera just in case and off we went again. This time the other direction to the river. Sure enough it was higher than I had ever seen it before. We spent about an hour enjoying the morning, the sun, the cool air, and the river. After returning to the house I turned on the computer to check with the Department of Water Resources to see just how much it had risen and how fast. It was at 24 feet yesterday and 7am and 35.2 feet this morning at 7am. A small town don by I5 about 15 miles down river where is become more flat the river is above flood stage by one foot.
Then this afternoon I was sitting here at the computer doing some thing and I heard a swalk several times. I looked up and there were three peahens. Do were pecking around in the yard and the other was looking in the glass door and swalking like she was saying, “HELLO IS ANYONE HOME”. I moved slowly to get the camera and take some pictures. But through the window then did not turn out very good. Then after they left here came the peacock and he stop to check things out and eat some seeds from a bush (Not George). Meanwhile the dogs were asleep and were not even aware that the big birds were around.
Today was the long awaited day for the telephone repairman to come and fix the phone. I have not had a phone line sense the day I arrived. Well, he just call to inform me that he found the problem but was unable to fix it. He said that he would order a crew to come out and repair it but that it will not be before Saturday. Thank goodness that I have a cell phone that I use for work and I now have wireless internet even way out here in the country.
Then I spent some time in the yard trying to get it cleaned up so it will be beautiful when Sami arrives next week. Which, I hope will be warmer and no more rain. Well that is my chronicle for today.

Juancito! Thanks for the nice story. Seems that your´re enjoying your time over there. I wish I was there! but we´ll see each other very soon.. I´m looking forward to that! besos!
